Accurate Ledger

The Accurate Ledger Standard

Clarity, consistency, and control—maintained monthly.

What an Accurate Ledger Means

An Accurate Ledger reflects financial records that are:

  • Reconciled regularly and kept current
  • Categorized consistently based on available information
  • Built on accurate beginning balances
  • Clearly separated between business and personal activity
  • Suitable for internal decision-making and oversight

Accuracy is about reliability, not perfection.

Ongoing bookkeeping is supported by a structured, proprietary transaction review framework that removes ambiguity, documents client decisions, and preserves accuracy month to month.

What Accuracy Requires—and What It Does Not

Maintaining accuracy depends on:

  • Timely access to accounts and documents
  • Complete and truthful client-provided information
  • Ongoing consistency, not one-time fixes

An Accurate Ledger does not include:

  • Audits, reviews, or attestations
  • Tax preparation or tax advice
  • Fraud detection or compliance verification
  • Third-party or GAAP-certified reporting

Reports are intended for internal management use only.

This standard is the foundation for all ongoing bookkeeping and advisory services provided by SOF Ledger LLC.

Monthly Bookkeeping

Maintaining the Accurate Ledger Standard

What Monthly Bookkeeping Includes

Monthly bookkeeping is designed to maintain an Accurate Ledger once a clean starting point is established.

Ongoing services include:

  • Entry and classification of business transactions
  • Monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
  • Payroll summary entries provided by the client or processor
  • Preparation of standard financial reports:
    • Profit & Loss
    • Balance Sheet
    • Statement of Cash Flows

This work follows a consistent monthly cadence to preserve clarity and continuity. Structured to produce CPA-ready financial reports that can be used by your tax professional.

How the Standard Is Maintained

Monthly bookkeeping assumes:

  • Timely access to accounts and statements
  • Client responsiveness to questions or clarification requests
  • Complete and accurate source information
  • Separation of business and personal activity

When required information is delayed, incomplete, or unavailable, accuracy cannot be maintained and services may be paused until resolved.

Monthly bookkeeping is not intended to correct historical issues, restructure prior periods, or compensate for ongoing data gaps.

Monthly bookkeeping preserves accuracy through consistency—not one-time fixes.

Cleanup & Catch-Up Services

Establishing an Accurate Ledger

When Cleanup Is Required

Cleanup services are used when existing records do not meet the Accurate Ledger standard.

This may include situations where:

  • Accounts have not been reconciled
  • Beginning balances are inaccurate or unclear
  • Transactions are misclassified or incomplete
  • Prior periods are out of date or inconsistent
  • Multiple accounts or processors require alignment

Cleanup work is designed to bring records current to a defined point in time.

How Cleanup Services Are Structured

Cleanup services are:

  • Finite and non-recurring
  • Scoped to a specific date range
  • Quoted separately from monthly bookkeeping
  • Often required before ongoing services can begin

Cleanup establishes a clean starting point so that monthly bookkeeping can be performed accurately and consistently going forward.

Cleanup services do not convert into ongoing maintenance and do not replace the need for regular monthly bookkeeping.

Cleanup establishes accuracy—monthly bookkeeping preserves it.

Define the Scope. Then Move Forward.

Every engagement begins with a structured evaluation of your bookkeeping environment.

We examine how your numbers are produced, how they’re used, and where reliability may be at risk.

From there, we determine the appropriate next step — whether that’s a focused Scope Assessment or a comprehensive Forensic Review.

This is not a sales pitch.
It’s a working conversation.

Reviews are intentionally limited to preserve depth, accuracy, and accountability.
